Crimson Union is art rock with the lights turned down low: slow-burning guitars, a voice that can whisper and wound in the same line, and songs that sound like candlelight in a room you're not allowed to leave. She writes about love the way other people write about weather warnings — calmly, precisely, and far too late.
Her first album, Devotion, Then Possession, is twenty songs about a love that tightens one rule at a time. It starts sweetly ("Text When Home," "Spare Key") and ends somewhere else entirely ("House Rules," "Approved Names," "Your Side Only"), and the frightening part is how reasonable it all sounds from the inside. The follow-up, Our Own Religion, builds a faith for two — with its own calendar ("Our Calendar"), its own scripture ("Second Gospel," "Article One") and its own sins ("Minor Heresy," "Wrong Amen") — and asks what happens to the congregation when one of you stops believing ("Former Believer," "Empty Pew").
Dark, devotional and impossible to look away from, Crimson Union is part of Riot Temple, Squaredrum's home for rock, created under human creative direction with AI-assisted music.
