Nairobi, 2099. A matatu lifts off for the stars, the satellites over the Serengeti are humming, and somewhere in the signal a voice is singing to the ancestors. That is the world of Nova Liyah: pop from the future with a very old soul.

Three albums map it out. The first is a prayer in neon ("Prayers to the Outer Light," "Celestial Ancestors," "Oracle's Lullaby"), with a crush big enough to light the sky ("Supernova Crush," "Skin Made of Shooting Stars"). Nova Liyah II comes down to earth in East Africa, somewhere in the future ("Nairobi Nights, 2099," "Matatu to the Stars," "Cosmic Kitenge," "Maasai Moon Chant"), and misses someone through the static ("Hologram of You," "Static Between Lovers," "Pixel Tears"). Nova Liyah III fuses the two for good, with tradition written into the code ("Ancestral Algorithm," "Cyber Griot," "Code of the Ancients") and a heart that runs on starlight ("Stardust in My Pulse," "Quantum Woman").
